Let us say a short break is always well deserved. We left on 5th Nov 2011 morning from Pune and reached Mumbai Dadar at 11.30am. Me, Meenakshi and Sameer (my colleagues at office). We had planned to spend the day visiting Bandra and surrounding areas, shopping for girlie stuff and so on.
So we first visited Phoenix Mills at Lower Parel, where we visited Hamleys – a toy store. We spent almost three hours there, looking at all the toys under the sun. Donald Duck, Dinosaurs, the Muppets, WWF players, Ben 10, Winnie the Pooh, Monsters, Barbie dolls, cars, etc. We ended up buying loads of soft toys and toys for our nieces and nephews.
Post which we went to a place called “Spaghetti” where we had mozarella cheese spaghetti and then raviolli..followed by iced tea. Our stomachs were full, post which we went on to Bandra Hill road where bought trinkets, tshirts, purses, etc. Here we bargained to our hearts content and then with our bags full of shopping returned to my cousins place.
My cousin is getting married in December hence we went shopping for his Sherwani on Day 2. We visited almost 10 shops till we stumbled on the right one. the whole day went in that. We cooked rice, dal, paranthas, etc and had a lot of fun. My cousins house is sea facing and i spent most of the time looking at the Sea. I had a sea facing room and watched at the Sea throughout the night. The rising and falling waves hitting the shore and the beauty of it.
Day 3 went quite well, after preparing breakfast I visited my friend in Mumbai, we met up chitchatted on general topics like haunted places in India, Sati practice, the dowry system, etc. Three-four hours passed away and I took my bus back to Pune. On my return journey I met a Kanchan Gogte who works with TOI. She had written a book on “Work life balance” we spoke on a number of topics. It was indeed a great 3 days.
